Calculate your electrical demand
Chris Keyser solar solutions has procured 2 types of excellent quality solar panel options for you to choose from when considering heating you domestic or business geyser.
The advantages of using solar for your domestic or business geyser:
- An average sunny day in Cape Town generates ample solar energy to provide all your hot water needs without using electricity.
- Installing a solar geyser will ensure that you save money on your electricity bill
- Installing a solar geyser will serve as an investment adding more value to your home
- Solar energy is clean, renewable and environmentally friendly
- Installing a solar geyser will ensure that you and your family have ample hot water even during electrical failures
To calculate your monthly electrical demand / usage:
- Calculate how many hours each of your electrical appliances is used per day and multiply that by the electricity requirement indicated on that appliance, i.e. 80w, 500w or 3kw, etc.
- Now multiply that by 30 days and you will see how many kWh you and your family consumes per month.
Now consider that most households use either a 150lt or 200lt electric geyser or that some even uses both; a 150lt electric geyser is heated by a 3kw electric element where as a 200lt electric geyser is heated by a 4kw electric element.
To calculate the electricity demand and monthly electrical cost per geyser (A geyser consumes, on average, 5 hours of electricity per day)
- 4kw (200lt geyser element) x 5hrs x 30 days = 600kWh p/m
- 600kWh x R0 75c (average rate per kWh) = R450 p/m x 12 = R5 400 p.a.
- 600kWh x 2ltr = 1200lt p/m x 12 = 14 400lt p.a.
